Reading
Your CFNC username and password are important because when you’re a senior next year you can use your CFNC account in so many different ways. For example, you can send your official electronic high school transcript from NC public schools to any North Carolina college for free. You can also apply for admission to over 85 two-year and four-year colleges in North Carolina.
As you explore careers, you can use your CFNC.org account for accessing NCcareers.org to save assessments and your favorite career options.
And you’ll also use your CFNC username and password for ncresidency.org (RDS), which allows you to be considered a North Carolina resident for college. Being a resident can save you thousands of dollars because residents attending North Carolina community colleges and public universities receive in-state tuition. Residents also qualify for special scholarships and grants at both public and independent colleges.

Action Item
To complete Step 1, either create a new CFNC.org account, or confirm that you can still log into your existing account. If you’ve had one in the past, recovering it is better than simply creating a new one because you’ll be able to recover your previous activities (for instance, career assessment results). If you need help accessing your account you can click "LOG IN" on CFNC.org and follow the instructions for online account recovery, or you can call 866.866.2362 (option 5).

Additional Resources and Tips
For Students
You won’t have to complete the residency process until you're a senior, but you can take a sneak peek by going to ncresidency.org and exploring the benefits, policies, and guidelines.
For Parents
If you don’t already have a free CFNC.org account, we encourage you to create one and choose the role “Parent, Guardian, Grandparent or Cosigner” during account creation.
