2024 Next Step Online Program: Workforce
Overview
The three steps below will help you get a head start on your senior year as you consider entering the workforce. Each step contains one or more action items, and since they build on one another, it's best to complete them in order.
You'll find readings, videos, and resources to help you do your action items, and you can always contact our team of NC graduate assistants if you have questions. Tip: you won't be able to do all steps at once, so bookmark this page for easy referral in the weeks to come.

It's difficult to do well in a job or to start a business if it doesn't match your interests and values. In this step you'll make a brainstorming list, talk to two trusted adults, watch a video, and take two online inventories.

Building on what you discovered in the first step, you'll learn more about the top occupations you've identified and narrow your list down to three potential careers or entrepreneurial opportunities.

In this step you'll make sure you have a professional email address, become familiar with job search resources, and look at actual job openings to see how you compare to the qualifications.
